CLL Season Suspended

Dear Claremont Little League Families, Friends and Supporters,
It is with great disappointment, but truly intending to do the right thing, the CLL board has decided to postpone our CLL season until further notice.  Effective immediately all games are being postponed and we are asking all managers and coaches to follow these restrictions by not having practices.  While practices may seem like a lower risk activity due to their reduced amount of people, we still believe they should be canceled for now to follow the lead of the local authorities in eliminating any unnecessary group activities.
While many of our daily lives are changing because of the COVID-19 outbreak, in order to help prevent this spread of this illness we need to do our part for the community. As much as we feel playing baseball might be beneficial for our kids' emotional and psychological wellbeing, the very last thing we want is for Blaisdell, College or Griffith Park to become Claremont's ground zero. We hope in a matter of weeks this all feels like an overreaction, but continuing to get together for baseball activities could undo whatever benefit the community gains from all the school and other cancellations.
On Thursday, the Board met to evaluate our options in light of Little League International discussing how to respond to COVID-19. We felt at that time, with our local community's schools still being open and rain in the forecast for the next few days, we had time to gather more facts and really consider the entire picture to make our decision.  During the last few days all games and practices were cancelled due to weather and field conditions. We also used that time to talk with city officials, health officials on the front lines of this pandemic and school district representatives to get a whole picture of this issue.
The board will be reviewing the status of the league as it pertains to practices and games on a weekly basis.  We will continue to keep you informed on any new developments effecting CLL and welcome any questions you may have.  I know I speak for the entire board when I say, we hope in the near future we are back to playing baseball and back to a bit of normalcy for our kids, but more importantly we want everyone to be safe and healthy.
